I have myself in the GAIM list of contacts, both on yahoo and
gtalk/jabber protocols. My icon (avatar) that I set for GTalk is shown
correctly in GAIM, but that might be because I entered it while on a
windows machine, and GTalk stores the avatar on
I have successfuly installed 7.04 since, so that commands would be
useless for this report.

After trying various offline upgrades, I reinstalled 6.10 again, and
then upgraded from the internet. The upgrade went really fine, no
problem at all. I saw some improvements, most notably a Gaim status bug
fixed, and my photo camera is recognized.
One small annoying thing is that the boot is 4x

Unfortunately I cannot do this since I reinstalled the system like this:
installed the 6.10 version, and then, upgraded from the internet.
Everything works fine now. Only the boot is a 4x slower (estimate) from

Yes, it turns out that it is a LiveCD, except that it doesn't want to
live :). I boot from it and it gives me the following message:

Is there a Live CD for 7.04 ? Can you point me to download link ? I
tried ubuntu-7.04-alternate-i386.iso and then
ubuntu-7.04-desktop-i386.iso
None of them is LiveCD :(

I installed Ubuntu 6.10 and the upgraded from CD Ubuntu 7.04. Now
Add/Remove Programs does not start, nor Language Support. Before that I
tried a direct 7.04 install with bad results. See

I downloaded ubuntu-7.04-alternate-i386.iso and tried to install from
it.
First attempt:
Installed with succesfully recognizing the network, but hanged at 70% of base
system install.
Second attempt:
Installed with succesfully recognizing the network, afterwards unplugged the
cable, passed from
Installing GRUB boot loader 0% :(
This is another long hang of the release CD install. I really miss 6.06
LiveCD.

The machine was behing a router which assigns addresses using DHCP. I
seems that if I insall without a network, it does not hang. Stil, it is
significantly slower from 6.10 Live install.

A really good feature would be upgrade from the CD. Or maybe it is
already possible. So I can use the same CD for many computers (give them
to friends after downloading once)

I made backup on another computer, and installed from cd, since over the
internet would download 1Gb and my connection is not that well. Now it
reinstalls. Forst time stopped at 70% in basic system install, second
(after unplugging network cable after the network was dete
