I downloaded ubuntu-7.04-alternate-i386.iso and tried to install from it. First attempt: Installed with succesfully recognizing the network, but hanged at 70% of base system install.
Second attempt: Installed with succesfully recognizing the network, afterwards unplugged the cable, passed from that 70% of base system install, but then hanged at next 20%. Third attempt: Installed completely with network cable unplugged, but failed to install GRUB, possibly due to HDD error, after installing everithing else. I think is hdd error because I saw the last lines of the log (Alt+F2, thanks to school Linux courses :) and tail -f bla bla. Now I insall 6.06 again, from the LiveCD. For 7.04 there is no LiveCD, according to https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LiveCD. In the future I will not make this mistake any more, but try a live internet upgrade. Though, I could not recommend Ubuntu to people without a second computer connected to internet for troubleshooting, and definitely cannot be installed by not-techie. Or maybe installed by mild-techie from LiveCD. I will try to upgrade the from CD, if possible, as suggested by Richard Birnie.
