"dpkg-reconfigure grub-pc" showed many default values, incl. /dev/sda1.
But i do not have any sort of dualboot (never had), so i changed this to
/dev/sda and now it works again.
After upgrade to 14.04 ubuntu decided to grub-install on /dev/sda1 (my
root partition) instead of sda?
I don't kno
same problem here. upgraded from 13.10, now this error. i did not do
anything with grub, only "do-release-upgrade".
booting with a stick, chroot'ed /dev/sda1 and did a
dpkg-reconfigure grub-pc
but nothing changes. problem exists.
anything else what can be done?

my ssh-service and libvirt-bin service does not start. i downgraded
upstart but both services do not start.
it is really a problem, because the system is a server with a few
virtual images. everything worked until 9.10. now i have the problem,
that i have to start the services manually on reboot.

yesterday i upgraded my 9.04 to karmic, everything worked. today morning
i did an update/-grade via wlan (Linux vaio4 2.6.31-13-generic

on my system (8.10 desktop) i installed a x2go and this server opens
every 5 secons a new session (as my posting above shows). and as the
pam_ck_connector is installed to (/etc/pam.d/common-session), this
session is registered with the consolekit-daemon --> every 5 seconds a
new session is reg
i had the same problem with consolekit. after a few days consolekit-
daemon had about >90% of cpu.
then i realized that in my "auth.log" that every 5 seconds i get this
entries:

Same here. After an apt-upgrade a few days ago the sound is gone.
Everything worked before. The system is Kubuntu 8.04 with KDE4.
if i do
fuser -k /dev/snd/*
and
sudo modprobe -r snd_hda_intel && sudo modprobe snd_hda_intel
i get a kde message that photon found a new hardware und uses it. n
