Well, I'm using Lucid and they're sorted alphabetically too.
My reasoning:
If you can click the "Enabled" header to sort plugins according to
whether they're enabled, then you should also be able to click the
"Plugin" header to do so.

The current GNOME default is that menu accelerators are hidden, and
shown when you press the ALT key.
Firefox and OpenOffice.org don't observe this policy and have their menu
accelerators displayed all the time.
