I'm experiencing the same symptoms. Pidgin blocks completly when it's asking notify-osd to show a message (making epiphany-browser block most of the time too). Luckily, it doesn't happen all the time, but it happens enough to be very annoying. Still, i don't have a way to reproduce it. Examples of
