The freeze problem actually started when I was using 12.04 LTS. Every
time when I was login to the desktop (after the computer is completely
shut down) , the screen glitches and freezes. However, when I restart
the computer, the problem went away. Everything is normal again.
Thanks Seth. I actually had the AP changed and I cannot reproduce the
bug at the moment.

I tested the kernel 3.13 and the problem still exists. The tags are
updated.
I would also tend to blame the access point though an Android phone and
a Windows laptop are sharing the access point and both remain connected
when the Ubuntu laptop fails.

it has privacy implications, as well. Anything displayed on screen at
any time may be viewed again minutes, hours, or in some cases days later
by any user.
Usually, it's just a brief 1 second flash, but in extreme cases when
I get this in hardy, Evince 2.22.2 all the time when randomly
clicking/highlighting text.
