modem. Having read all the forums and info sites for linux, it seems that
ubuntu's network manager can run this modem. You should just be able to plug it

sudo gedit /etc/default/acpi-support
adding soundcore module to MODULES="" section like this:
MODULES="soundcore"
this remove and relo
