Probably linked to the other Gnome-shell bugs.
Been happening since upgraded to 17.10, system is fully updated. It's
getting annoying having to restart gnome-shell every time I turn my
screen off and on.

Just installed the 16.04 beta, ran the upgrade so I'm up to date.
The Nautilus file manager has a missing browse network option.
I can connect to smb shares manually.

Due to other problems (I.e. I messed up my system) I did a wipe and feel back
to using 14.04LTS
(Which also has the same bug with the default installed kernel)
I'll reinstall 14.10 on a spare drive in the machine and get the
proposed kernel a test.

I've just started getting a similar error:
Suspend to ram and resuming from ram are fine.

Can you post your /var/log/pm-suspend.log file here.
In my case it was a script which was stopping the Sleep / Hibernate mode
from starting.
But the pm-suspend.log will help in seeing what is happening.

Done some self testing...
If I remove the script "/etc/pm/sleep.d/07-stop-play.sh" The laptop
suspends.
Looks like their is a problem either with the 07-stop-play.sh script or my
laptop.
Can anyone see a problem with the script?

I removed 'quiet' and 'splash' then rebottede the machine twice.
Both times shutdown pauses on 'ALSA' for 5 mins before continuing.
No other message / error / warning was shown.
Anyone know if the shutdown messages kept in a logfile? or is logging
stopped before that point?
