I have two systems using PK with the smartpm backend. One running Lucid
with PK v0.5.7 and smartpm v1.2 and one running Maverick with PK v0.6.5

I confirmed this and duplicated a bug i filed to this one. I have Karmic
alpha 6 installed on a system that also has Kubuntu, PC-BSD and ReactOS
installed with more OSs to come.
Grub2 or shall i say os-prober did not detect ReactOS nor PC-BSD.

I have submitted a bug report, Bug #389935, requesting that Ubuntu
Karmic(Gnome) be released in 2 versions. One with AppCenter installed as
default and the other with Packagekit installed by default.
I feel its only fair to those that have voted in Brainstorm and those
that have supported it in th

Packagekit has been marked in development for over a year now on
Brainstorm. It has received wide support on Ubuntu
I guess the next LTS which will be here in under a year will have a half
assed AppCenter in it. Good choice for an LTS.
And it has a roadmap stretching all the way to April 2011 already.
Imagine how much Packagekit will have changed in that time.

No i havent filed a new bug but perhaps i will.
Yes i am sure about Packagekit not being default. Packagekit has been dropped
from Ubuntu all together in favour of AppCenter.
There is a thread in the Karmic Testing and Discussion section of the Ubuntu
Forum.
But yes it was finally suppose to b

I used 0.4.6 in Foresight and it is much improved over the 0.3.x series.

Argh!! I cannot believe Packagekit has been given the boot again!!
It would make a lot more sense integrating AppCenter with Packagekit giving
Ubuntu/Kubuntu that uniqueness of Packagekit yet Packagekit can continue to
grow with the input of a growing number of Distros!

Hi Matthias, yes i'm already aware about KPackagekit being in default in
Kubuntu.
I'm guessing we'll only see it go to Ubuntu also once those problematic
dependencies are resolved and since its Feature Freeze today i think it
would be safe to say that we will have to wait until 9.10 unfortunately.
Can anyone shed some light as to whether or not Packagekit will be
default in Jaunty?
