I am not completely aware of a security implication of this bug, but possibly
the non correct update of utmp by (?) program would lead to some race condition

I am not sure why you refer to connman, but I am on ubuntu Lucid
(Kubuntu 9.10 => 10.04 now) and I have nnot connman installed, but

The 'altoptions' setting in /boot/grub/menu.lst file act to dynamically
recreate boot entries for grub. OK
Its default config is for a recovery console in Init3 or so.. The bug is that
the locale does not get configured as in normal boot entries thanks to

applet's *number of lines* (which actually can be 1,2,3,automatic).
