I've found that the problem doesn't occur while running XFCE - I
installed xubuntu-desktop and with no change to my hardware I've had no
recurrence of the problem. So much for the idea that it's a hardware

I ran lshal --monitor to see whether that would produce anything useful.
It gave no output except for "Start monitoring devicelist" and a line of
hyphens, until the problem occurred,at which point it gave:

This bug is still present in Karmic, and adding "AutoAddDevices" "off"
no longer works around it. Switching to a VT and back still temporarily

unusable as the GTK apps use up 100% of the CPU finding and losing and
finding the keyboard again. I'm happy to turn on whatever debug options

that low signal strength causes the GUI to believe it has no keyboard,
so the components that depend on the presence of a keyboard become
inactive; however when signal strength increases, the GUI fails to
recognise that the keybo
It's definitely not just a positioning thing - moving the keyboard
around can cause the keyboard to stop working, but never to start. The
ctrl-alt thing happens even if the keyboard is on a flat, unmoving
surface like the floor, and it doesn't work with similar key patterns
such as ctrl-shift.

I've had a problem with keyboard input. I use a Logitech Cordless
Desktop Pro wireless USB keyboard.
Sometimes, always in X and always while logged in, the keyboard will

For me, it hangs - the windows stay in place, but don't refresh properly
if other windows are brought in front of them; you just end up with dark
