Muelli: vanilla hdaps is broken. Use hdaps_ec from the tp_smapi package
instead (see http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/tp_smapi).

tp_smapi has been stable (with incremental improvements) for more than a
year and supports all relevant ThinkPad models - see the table in

The modified hdaps driver in tp_smapi
(http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/tp_smapi) fixes the problem with stuck
readouts, and extends the "invert" option to support the inverted Y
axis. It also has a model whitelist which, in most cases, automatically
sets the correct axis orientation.

Unlike the mainline kernel, which uses a whiltelist to detect the
accelerometer, tp_smapi queries the hardware for accelerometer support
so it automatically supports new ThinkPad models (as long as Lenovo
keeps the current interface).

The hdaps driver in mainline kernel doesn't follow the correct protocol
when initializing and reading the accelerometer interface of the

Currently, the best way to build tp_smapi on Ubuntu is to manually override the
kernel source and build paths:
$ make KSRC=/foo KBUILD=/bar ...
Patches to make the Makefile more Ubuntu-friendly (without breaking
other distros) are very welcome.
