Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: xorg
Have been getting these random xorg crashes maybe a few times a day. The whole
of X just restarts, obviously killing any running apps, etc. The only telltale
sign I found in /var/log/ was the following in syslog:
---
May 5 18:58:59 peru gdm[10608]
BTW, although there are other bugs filed with gdm_slave_xioerror_handler
fatal errors, none seemed to match my hardware.

I can confirm this problem as well. Simply running 'apt-get install
python-tables' and then 'python -c "import tables"' gives:
"ImportError: No module named utilsExtension"
The package is therefore currently completely broken in jaunty. (as 2.6
is the default)

I'd just like to add, in case it wasn't clear that the sound doesn't
work for me in ANY app, not only under Wine.

This is fixed after the latest upgrade to 2.6.24-14. I have to say, I
don't find Launchpad very intuitive - how does one close a bug?

Yes that works great with the old BIOS setting! I think this option
should be mentioned somewhere prominent for those of us with less than
perfectly conformant BIOSes (or even made the default?). Where does one
find a list of all the different boot options?
I guess this can be marked as solved.

No, this is standard Ubuntu. If I go into my dell BIOS and set the SATA
mode from IDE to RAID, then everything boots ok. I think there seem to
be some problems with the new libata library. Is there any way to use
the legacy IDE support using a boot option? I think this wd be useful
for many users.

Ok, just thought i'd write down what I did to fix it. The problem for me
turned out to be the swap partition not staying in one place (/dev/sda3
one day, /dev/sdb3 the next), so I:
1. Find the current location for the swap partition: sudo /sbin/fdisk -l | grep
swap
2. Find the UUID: sudo vol_id [
