Your PPA really helped me and I was able to set my hotkey to Shift +
Control L, however, CTRL + SHIFT + TAB combination, which I use to
switch to previous tab in browser, doesn't work anyome. I am pretty sure
that is related.
Would appreciate it if you coud take a look at this.

Erin Heimer workaround does not seem to always work.

I agree, i use gmail webinterface and for IM notification, using Pidgin
tray icon. I believe these should be 2 different applets and users must
have an ability to choose, what to remove and what to keep.
