It appears that ibus requires gnome-icon-theme for the candidate panel
to appear as well.
I had found various other bugs about ibus not appearing in the bar but I
did not care about that so discounted those resolutions. It appears that
the fix for those bugs (installing gnome-icon-theme as mention
I have also tested this using ibus-anthy and the same problem occurs.
Therefore I think the problems lies in the base ibus or something
further up.

On a fresh Kubuntu 12.04.1 installation I ran
sudo apt-get install ibus-mozc
After rebooting the computer Japanese input is enabled however when you
type in Hiragana there is no candidate box displayed with all the
possible Kanji combinations. Hitting space still cycles thro
It has been categorised but nothing has happened in terms of assignment or
priority, it is still listed as new and the importance in undecided by those in
power.
Needless to say that for me this is critical since I can't use the laptop on
the go...

This is a bug-tracking system for issues in the Ubuntu Linux
distribution only so you won't get much help because your problem is
either in the hardware or Microsoft Windows XP, neither of which this
supports. If you want more help you should find a windows forum or
contact HP and Micro
Added the hardware profile generated by the database program since the
site appears to be b0rked.
