I found that commenting out
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="$GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT nomdmonddf
nomdmonisw" alone didnt work, nor that with update-initramfs.
My fix:
comment out: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="$GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT nomdmonddf
nomdmonisw"
and then append "nodmraid" to /etc/grub/
It turned so hard to get the right version of Geary.
So, I tried to use Geary 0.11.2 from launchpad's PPA, but it is different Geary
because Elementary OS uses geary-0.10.0-1ubuntu1+elementary0.3.4 0. This
package is patched for Elementary OS and have a bit different interface.

I have found the solution !!!
In fact, I force the ACPI_OS_NAME to "Windows 2001" just to activate the
same functions as in Windows. And now, that works like a charm. Would
you please try the workaround ? It's easy, you just have to add
acpi_os_name="Windows 2001"
at the end of the line concerni

restarted, I got a Kernel Panic...I think the initrd is not good for the
"home-compiled" kernel...Moreover, the compilation was so long
on my laptop...I had no force to try again for today...I wish a simple
working solution

I'm also affecting, but it seems to be kernel related, as the bug is
present for multiple users and for multiple Ubuntu versions (for me, the
bug is present since at least three versions...).
