I also get this annoying loud buzzing noise with Pidgin alerts. I
haven't heard it from anything else so far and sometimes it doesn't do
it when pidgin alert noises go off, but it usually does. I'm using a
stock, up to date Jaunty. I'm pretty sure this didn't happen with
Intrepid.

This bug has been bothering me in Hardy, Intrepid and Jaunty. Rhythmbox
and Banshee alike. In Hardy with Rhythmbox channels that failed would
sometimes refuse to load again until I restarted the program. In Jaunty
with Banshee I can restart them easily but it's still annoying.

This bug has hit me too. Is there any chance of an update, backport or
up-to-date PPA becoming available? It is very convenient having OpenMPI
in the repos, but I can't use it in this state.

I have the same trouble (and it's getting rather irksome). I'm running
a fully updated 'stock' Gutsy with a GeForce 6800 on NVidia drivers. My
monitors are configured as separate X screens.
My Ubuntu-forum searching found another similarly afflicted:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=4367
The WhirlwindWarp screensaver, viewed in the screensaver selection
window, also crashes my system when compiz is enabled. Braid has the
same effect.
ctrl-alt-backspc works, but only a few minutes after I hit it. Until
then it looks like a hard freeze.
I'm running Feisty on a Pentium-D in 32 bit
My only concern would be that a previous version of the Feisty kernel
worked. Some change in the Herd 3 kernel snagged in VirtualVox.
However, so long as VirtualBox is the only environment where this
happens, I think its fine to close. Thanks.

That seems to be the case. I reported it to VirtualBox and word is this
will be fixed in their next release. Thanks.

Public bug reported:
I have been testing Feisty on the Windows version of the VirtualBox
virtual machine, primarily using the default VM settings. Herd 2 booted
correctly initially, but a kernel update a few days ago resulted in boot
failure. The previous kernel still booted successfully. Booti
I am getting a similar error booting Feisty (Herd 3) in the VirtualBox
VM (Windows host, default VM settings). If the two are unrelated I can
provide more information in a distinct report. Otherwise, this may be
useful in duplicating the problem.

The screen-scrambling ubiquity crash described above also happens when
attempting to install in the VirtualBox virtual machine. I have tested
this only with the Windows version of VirtualBox. The virtual machine
was configured with about 250 MB of RAM and 16 MB of video memory. In
theory this wi
