My software sites list was empty too, so Eclipse wasn't able to find the
required dependencies to install ADT (Android Developer Tools). After adding
the URLs you provide, and the ADT URL, I could finally install the ADT plugins.

Jeremy: The bug was still present on the new kernels last time I checked
it. Though it is easy to solve, if you know what are you looking for.
Last times I installed an Ubuntu or Mint machine (Core2Duos and Atoms),
I had to cope with it: The CPU will remain at the lowest frequency most
of the time
Simon, after some work we found this:
- With upstart there is no boot logging (it's not supported yet!;
/var/log/bootlog is empty), so if some daemon from "/etc/init.d" fails
to load it may leave no trace.
- With upstart in Karmic, some services (scripts in /etc/init) run in parallel.

Same problem here: I used to use the rc.local script to set some energy
saving parameters on my netbook. But since the upgrade (fresh install)
to 9.10 the rc.local does not run anymore.
