Turning off the onscreen keyboard in Accessability > Typing > Onscreen
Keyboard allowed gnome-shell to startup. This is a reproduceable problem
for me. I always get the error when the keyboard is on.

I'm sorry I've already upgraded to precise so I don't have an install of
Onieric to test this on. I can tell you that it works as expected on
using 3.4.0-0ubuntu1 for Precise

I deleted all Gnome extensions from the ~/.local/share/gnome-
shell/extensions/installation directory and this stopped happening.
Gnome now starts successfully.
Trying to reinstall the extensions is no longer possible on the with
current Gnome-3.4 Ubuntu package. The two extensions I had installe

I'm not sure this is a bug with warzone2100 itself. I suspect it is that
the font displayed in the game wasn't installed correctly.
Running this installed many fonts and fixed my issue:
