I'm not sure this is a bug with warzone2100 itself. I suspect it is that
the font displayed in the game wasn't installed correctly.
Running this installed many fonts and fixed my issue:
sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras
I also saw other people have the also fixed this issue by changing the
X.org config <a href="http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-
bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=603492">http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-
bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=603492</a> presumably also installing the correct
font. I'm willing to help track down the actual font but would need
help/instructions on how to do this.
