If the pcmanfm is closed clicking on the "x" on the top-right corner,
there's no problem and clicking on a desktop folder will open a new
pcmanfm window.

The display is 1920x1200, but during boot time, Ubuntu is not using
that resolution. Instead, it is using something like 640x480,
probably... I cannot tell really, because the image is stretched to fill
the whole screen.I think this can be seen from the pictures I
attached.

Christian, how did you get it to even ask you for the password to the encrypted
filesystem?
In my system (fresh 9.10 install), the graphical boot screen just says "Waiting
for /dev/mapper/cryptohome", but there's not way to enter the password.
My /etc/fstab contains:
/dev/mapper/cryptoh
I also have a problem with mountall. It does not break the book process
properly to ask for my LUKS password on an encrypted filesystem.
After a fresh install of 9.10, I entered a line in /etc/fstab to mount
an encrypted partition off of /dev/mapper/cryptohome but the boot
