Public bug reported:

It's a pitty that xmms is no longer offered in the official Ubuntu
repositories.
If it is considered old, I'd be happy if it is not included in the default
installation of Ubuntu, but at least it should be available on the regular
package sources.

Other music players are too big and cumbersome (rythmbox), or do not
work properly (audacity hangs frequently), or are too complex to use
for simple desktop use (xmms2, for exampl).

xmms is very simple, and that's just the functionality many users want.

I hope it can be considered to be included again in upcoming Ubuntu
releases.

Thanks,
