This bug was reported against Raring, but the fix was only released in
Saucy. Shouldn't the fixed package be released in Raring as well?

Upstream has supposedly fixed this in latest SVN. Please package it.
In the meantime, one workaround is to create a system connection (for
example using GNOME's nm-applet, which does it correctly).
Knetworkmanager will then work fine.

htt
I confirm this. It makes GNOME feel slow in general, and is very
noticeable in some particular cases - for example, open Nautilus, grab
its lower right corner, and try resizing the window for several seconds.
It's extremely slow to repaint. Switching back to XAA makes it very fast
again.

I confirm this. This update is the reason:

The CPU usage is 100% and it never connects. I'm using WPA and have Intel
4965AGN WiFi. It was working fine before this update.

I have the exact same problem as the original poster. But I don't think
it's related to Xorg, because the problem occurs way before X is

I confirm this (clean Gutsy Beta install, currently upgraded to
2007-10-05). Esd is enabled in System -> Preferences -> Sound, but
various applications can't find /usr/bin/esd. Also, startup and shutdown
sounds don't play. Using ALSA directly works fine.

No system sounds in Gutsy beta release
I confirm this bug (or something very similar) on Acer TravelMate
4502WLMi. Both Gutsy Tribe 5, and the 9/20 daily build fail to boot,
freezing at "Loading ACPI modules". With "acpi=off" they boot, but then
frequency scaling doesn't work, which is critical. Feisty worked fine.

Besides, when I unplug the power line, the laptop loses power
immediately (doesn't switch to battery)! When doing the same in Windows,
everything is OK.

It's very disappointing to see this bug demoted to Medium severity.
Don't underestimate the number of affected users. Feisty shouldn't be
released in this state. IMHO the right decision is to make 2.6.20.12 the
default version, and provide 2.6.20.14 in the repositories for whoever
needs it.

I confirm this. The laptop is an Acer 4502WLMi. Using kernel 2.6.20-12
everything is ok, but with 2.6.20-13 and 2.6.20-14 it fails to boot,
hanging at "Loading ACPI modules".
