Christopher,
I updated compiz with your newest packages and just experienced another system
freeze. I'm running Trusty with Nvidia 337.25 on a laptop with a GT 425M. If
there is any additonal info I could provide you with let me know and I will
post back with it.
Thanks for your continued work
I've found that enabling "force full screen redraws (buffer swap) on
repaint" in the workaround plugin in CCSM eliminates the issue for me.
Works on 14.04 with 337.12 and older 334 drivers. Despite the tooltip
saying that it will cause a massive increase in cpu and gpu usage, there

I'm adding myself as affected, bug #269904 sounds similar to what I'm
seeing but I've never experienced any problems till 334.16 and 334.21. I
notice it the most with Firefox but thats probably because 90% of the
time thats whats I'm using. Pages don't redraw completely and the boxes

Noticed that for me just disabling the "focus" effect in the animations
plugin gets rid of this bug for me. All other animations can still be
enabled and the bug goes away. Before that I was using emerald wich
also stopped this bug from happening. Nvidia 325.08 here, and 13.04 with
Unity.

I grabbed the update from precise-proposed and after several hours of
use I have not noticed any side effects or regressions of any kind. It
is working like it is supposed too. Awesome!!

Thanks so much Łukasz, and everyone else involved! This was the most
annoying bug for me by far, and having it fixed for Precise is just
awesome. I'm so excited for the 12.04 release, it's shaping up to be
superb!

I just had to say that I agree the current design looks a bit strange. However
one thing I do like is being able to throw the mouse up in the corner to hit
the close button on maximized apps. If that was changed I think you'd hear
about it from alot of users. I still think the design in Natty wa
Great news Łukasz, I'll continue to test then too and post back here if
I notice anything. Thanks so much!!
David- To answer your question about the update being added to the
normal flow of updates in Precise, thats what they are trying to do. SRU

Łukasz- Thanks so much for your work, I disabled your ppa due to the
crashes but it was so awesome to finally see the titlebars come back to
life! I'm glad you are working on getting the proper fix to us as soon
as possible, but what are the chances of the fix actually landing in

I too am experiencing the freezing of the UI occasionaly when certain
windows open. The first time it happened was on a nautilus "properties"

I just installed your compiz package and guess what? It works! I'm using
fglrx 8.960 on an amd64 laptop with a hd4200 integrated graphics chip. I
will continue testing and post back if I notice any side effects. Keep
up the great work!

Strange, I have used emerald with Natty, and Oneiric and I still had the same
frozen decorations. Emerald stopped working when I upgraded to Precise so cant
I can't say whether its working or not now.

Yes, I have always read that you should purge the driver first before
installing a newer version. You can easily remove fglrx with this command-
sudo apt-get remove --purge fglrx fglrx_* fglrx-amdcccle* fglrx-dev*
After you run this install the new driver then reboot and hopefully you'll boot
@Giuseppe Terrasi
Did you completely remove your existing fglrx driver before installing the .deb
from xorg-edgers? You can also try installing the drivers directly from AMD's
website too. http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/linux/Pages/radeon_linux.aspx

Sure, look here
http://wiki.cchtml.com/index.php/Ubuntu_Oneiric_Installation_Guide. Then follow
the instructions for removing catalyst/fglrx, its about halfway down the page.
After that, goto the top of the page to the section called "Installing Catalyst
Manually (from AMD/ATI's site)" and fol
I can confirm this is now fixed with catalyst 12.2. I just installed the
new driver and all my videos are playing fine again. I tried multilple
video formats with vlc and movie player. Using precise with amd64, ati

I'm experiencing the same thing as Brett in the unity 3d session. I have
my systray-whitelist key also set to "all" but it also has an entry for
"desura". Anyway if I set this key back to the default setting, logout
and log back in, the power indicator works as normal and the duplicate

I can confirm this. I just upgraded to precise last night from 11.10 and
now have two battery icons as well. If I choose to only show the battery
indicator while charging or using or to never display it the indicator
goes away like it should but the duplicate one always shows. I am on

I didn't catch that before in comment 10 about the open source driver.
Just to check I installed 11.10 and 12.04 in two seperate partions and
with both of them the open source radeon driver is displaying and
updating the title bars correctly. This is on amd64 with Radeon HD 4200.

Thanks, I knew it wasn't just me:) I am using your unity ppa as well. I
hate to ask because Im sure you have more important stuff to work on,
but maybe one rainy day you could look at bug 770283? It involves compiz
and fglrx and the title bars not updating on unmaximized windows.

Daniel,
Thank you for your excellent work! Im using your ppa in Ocelot and I cant
believe how buttery smooth my windows are moving now! The last time I remeber
seeing them so smooth was on my Maverick install. Using fglrx with HD4200.
This is kind of a noobish question but the fixes are improvin
Wow. Awesome news, hopefully this will lead to a fix for this bug. The
only downside for me is that the window resizing isn't making any
difference. I've tried different themes and even stretched windows
across to the second desktop and the titlebars are still frozen:(

This bug started for me on 11.04 while using fglrx. Im on 11.10 and it's
still there. Never had it in 10.10 when I started using Ubuntu even
while using fglrx. I personally think this bug has something to do with
compiz because I dont experience it in Unity2d and while using a
