OK, I'm not so sure if this is a driver fault anymore. I've found a way
to somewhat fix it using extra boot parameter - "acpi_backlight=vendor".

Confirming. In my case, crash occured on Edgy RC (with following updates up
till 2006-10-21). The process being run was:
beagled-helper --debug /usr/lib/beagle/IndexHelper.exe

The workaround is to use the RC alternate install and the text
installer. There are no problems with this and you can additionaly mount
volumes of LVM partitions.

I run ubiquity, choose manual partitioning and leave the partitions as they
are. Then I assign mount points. However whatever the assignment is, I cannot

Moreover, in gmplayer this causes the raise of pop up window with
"Couldn't resolve name for AF_INET6: bla.com..." message which is
definitely not user friendly.
Modification of mplayer.conf as given above solves the problem.

Confirming. Seems to happen for films with audio encoded using mpga.
Doesn't influence mplayer's ability to acctualy play the sound.
Mplayer console output for sample avi file:
Requested audio codec family [mp3] (afm=mp3lib) not available.
Enable it at compilation.
Opening audio decoder: [ffmpeg]

It is not possible to unsubscribe from bug 47046 (original bug) since
one is subscribed only to its duplicate and is just "notified" about
changes in the original one (it is not a proper subsription). To stop
the e-mail flood one need to unsubsribe from the duplicate. See bug
48860 for more details
I know of no better place to request the package upgrade, thus
reopening.
