Ok, the RAM issue is discarded. It just happened again some minutes ago
and the RAM memory log I had set in place didn't notice a problem there.
I have no idea how to replicate the issue or what is causing it. So far
I've only noticed the soft lockup messages linked to smbd from dmesg,

Yes, this only happened after some upgrade last week. But I suspect the
upgrade might've caused a memory leak that eats up the ram under some
conditions. I still have to pinpoint what is happening, but it's my
guess at the moment. Let me know if you find otherwise! I am very
concerned by this.
--
I suspect the problem was due to low RAM memory. I believe smbd was just
the first to suffer but not the culprit.

I load Ekiga, I then call my mobile using my SIP provider sipgate.co.uk.
My mobile rings so I answer then I hang up on my mobile. The call still
appears connected in Ekiga so I press the hang up button and the
application hangs.

I have the installed the ICA client from Citrix. It installed all it's
files into /opt/ICAClient
The location of 'wfica' is /opt/ICAClient/wfica and also there is a
/opt/ICAClient/wfica.bin
The only binary it places in /usr/bin/ is wfcmgr.
I have tested the ICA client by itself and it works fine
I'm not sure if this is the same bug or not, but I experienced a hang
when using Google Earth. This was with a fresh install of Gutsy using
NVIDIA 7600GT (nvidia-glx-new) with Compiz activated (dual-head
display).
