Today I upgraded linux-restricted-modules to 2.6.24.9-8.25 version, and
installed nvidia drivers with envy once again. We'll see will this
problem occure again. I hope not. :)

Maybe disableing CPU Frequency manager (powernowd) in Services settings will do
the job? I didn't try that, but there are people on the forums who say that
this helps.

I have the same problem here. I have Intel Core2Duo E6550, 2x1GB of RAM and
Gainward 7600GT SilentFX PCI-x video card. First when I had drivers from Gutsy
repos, the freez was not complite (I could move my mouse cursor), but when I
installed 169.09 drivers with envy, I had a complite freezes. I
I have this problem too. I have Leadtek winfast 2000/XP Expert, and when
I unload cx8800 module, the CPU usage is 0%, but when the module is
loaded, CPU usage is 30%. Please fix this.
