I have the same problem here. I have Intel Core2Duo E6550, 2x1GB of RAM and Gainward 7600GT SilentFX PCI-x video card. First when I had drivers from Gutsy repos, the freez was not complite (I could move my mouse cursor), but when I installed 169.09 drivers with envy, I had a complite freezes. I even upgraded my kernel to Hardy's kernel few days ago using this HowTo - http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=646755&highlight=hardy but I had one freez two days ago. And to say this... I can have a stable system for 1,2 or 3 days. Sometimes it freezes after 1 day, sometimes after 2 days, etc. There is no evidence of something went wrong in the logs. I don't know what can be the problem here, maybe it is cpufqscaling, but I didn't try to disable it. Today I upgraded to 2.6.24-8 version of kernel, and I will wait to see if it is going to freez.
