Xinerama as in the exact implementation of multi-screen X displays may
be long-gone.
Xinerama the X protocol extension and method for applications to query
the actual displays' geometry is AFAIK alive, and used by many non-

Oh yeah, and the RAID part as such didn't seem to be much of a problem
really; I think the LUKS "partition" creation and lack of crypttab for
the LUKS initiation on the initrd are the major problems here. I presume
LVM would be initialized fine also if the intermediate steps went well.
(It did for
No I don't at least, sorry. However, RAID-capable hardware is not
required, this was at least for me all with a software RAID setup.
Should've said that, sorry.
Just go to manual partitioning, create (a) RAID device(s), initialize at
least one for LUKS encryption (not the /boot one of course...),
By the way, I did the 8.04 route. I seem to have forgotten that it
didn't setup the dm_crypt root properly either, basically forgoing the
creation of /etc/crypttab. Manually creating that and running mkinitrd
again fixes the bootup from the encrypted root. That part of the problem
is probably the s
Public bug reported:
So. I tried to do an install of 8.10 on a mirrored encrypted lvm, with
/boot on a separate mirror. With the alternate installer of course,
since it's funky stuff.
First thing I noticed was that the partitioning tool forgets that I said
to use the /boot mirror as /boot every t
The (free) radeon driver in xserver-xorg-video-ati was used, however I
doubt this is/was relevant, since as said, it was the very basic _xshm_
output of Xine that exhibited the bug (so not any accelerated output,
just slapping bitmaps onto a X window).
Also, AFAIK Xine renders the subtitles onto t
I'll just chime in from the sidelines to mention that my particular
problem with xvideo has been fixed for a good while. Don't know about

Yeah, forgot this report here... Anyway, the problem has been fixed at
some point, as my Gutsy system nowadays has no problem with Xvideo, so
it's okay now.

Apparently the matter was handled via IRC/Mail, leaving no apparent
trace for me to spot when I filed my report.
According to the other reporter the bug should also be squashed in 0.9.2
release, and the particular patch is at

Public bug reported:
Evince consistently crashes on some PDFs which (for some reason or
another) apparently contain an empty, zero-sized page. The crash is due
to an assertion failure, so shouldn't be a security problem:
