This also happens with my ATI Radeon X600, and I've observed it on
several other computers as well, one of which I know has a nVidia card,
so it's not isolated to the Intel driver.

Thank you! I've been booting into 2.6.26-5 for a month now, and things
have been slowly breaking around it.
This should be trivial to create a patch for, so hopefully it will make

I am having the same problem. You should be able to hit CTRL-ALT-F2 to
get to a login prompt, then issue "sudo pkill bluetooth" to continue
normal booting. You still won't be able to use any new USB devices or
the TV card but you can get to the graphical interface / cli to debug
more.

the rest of the icons in my system tray change their backgrounds to
match the rest of the taskbar, but gmpc stays at the background color
