regular Dell keyboard at the moment, and haven't got Jackalope currently
installed. It's a bug that seems to have been ongoing for ages, and I've

I'm not sure of the exact sequence of events, but I install git-daemon
on Ibex. I believe this installs runit (??).
When I boot, I get the Ubuntu splash screen come up, but about half way through
it drops to the console with the message:
Loading the saved-state of the serial devices...
-runit: le

In ~/docs/uconfig/xmodmap I have added the lines
keycode 49 = section plusminus
keycode 94 = grave asciitilde

in order to get the keyboard worki

I would like to add a "me too". I'm using a Mac UK keyboard. I apt-get
install console-data console-common, then install-keymap the correct
keyboard layout. My tilde and grave then work as expected, whereas I got
a > and < before. However, like OP says, the keymap doesn't survive a
reboot.

A bug maintainer changed the sourcepackagename from None to xorg.
However, I don't think the bug is xorg specific, because the problem
also appears in virtual consoles. Some tweaking to the underlying way
that the keymaps work is required.

I'm using an Intel iMac in UK. The thread here:
