If I comment out "Load dri" and the DRI section in xorg.conf, I can avoid loading the i915 and drm kernel modules but unfortunatly the system still crashes on shutdown or logout when X is running.. so it seems to be a more general kernel bug. -- consistent OOPS on logout, restart or shutdown with

I've narrowed the problem down to an oops when rebooting while X is running. This happens even when I reboot from the console by doing CTRL+ALT+F1 first. Unfortunatly, I cannot capture the oops as it zooms by too quickly and I can no longer scroll up once it has crashed (how can I capture the oops

Ok, so it looks like this may be a duplicate of bugs 46874 and 30447. Although here it is happening with the OSS i915/i810 graphics driver combination. I'm going to try the workaround of disabling the "usplash" that is mentioned in one of the above bug #'s. -- consistent crash on logout, restar
