When I tried aaply state, I got error:

This was a re-installation of Ubuntu 18.04.1 on a system that was unstable with
many restarts without pattern. The motherboard eventually died. It was
replaced, moving all hardware to the new motherboard.

The key works, but as well as removing the name it also removes the
status icon and the me menu, leaving only the session button. I would
like to hide my name but keep the me menu and status icon. Is that

Yes, adding these four files fixed the issue in 9.10, thanks a lot. ( I had to
use root login to add these files to Notes folder). But it doesn't allow me to
replicate. All the options in Basic tab are grayed and I can't check mark the
optional boxes in other tabs.

Actually, it happens when I try to connect to a WPA network using wicd
as well. Maybe the problem is with the drivers/kernel/wpa_supplicant and
not network-manager?
