It could also be because of DNSsec. I have seen HTTP working, though
HTTPS failing.
When adding the Google nameservers before the default (127.0.0.53,
systemd-resolver) everything works as expected.

Well, if i knew what the cause is, i wouldn´t report it.
So i dunno how to reproduce it. It just happens from time to time (large
site).

I am not using encryption, but I rely heavily on lvm for volumes. The
machine is a desktop machine which i build myself with 4 cores and 8GB
DDR3-1333 Ram. (Memtest86 passed okay.) The system was upgraded from

Unfortunately, I can't test it as I have finally taken the eay route out
and removed apg and via from my system : I have replaced the motherboard
with a new one with an intel chipset and a PCI-express card.

I have now deleted the via-agp.ko module; agp is now of course disabled.
Gnome now still freezes after about 1 minute, but differently: applets
are still working (showing activity) , I can move the mouse, but I
cannot right or left click -> there are no actions to my mouse

My system does not boot since the new
root=UUID=ba04a9fc-fce6-4f33-b8a3-0646c3540c59 was introduced in
/boot/grub/menu.lst a few weeks ago. At boot it hangs with something like
"waiting for root fs". I have tried again after the today kernel 2.6.17-6.18
update.
To get it
The new kernel 2.6.17-6.18 that was updated today, still has the same
problem (freezes/kernel panics).

Openoffice does not play sounds.
In Writer, when I open the gallery and select sounds, then click on a
sound it opens the internal media player, but sound is disabled.
Its the same in Impress and all other openoffice apps.

I just want to add, that I know that agp in working with the 2.6.17
kernel because:
1. cat /proc/drivers/nvidia/agp/status is showing that agp is enabled at
8x (it is disabled with the 2.6.15 kernel) and
2. I get 12000-13000 fps with glxgears (5000 fps with the 2.6.15 kernel)

To add to my previous post (dapper amd64 with HP PSC 2410) I confirm
that the SD card is mounted properly when the card is inserted at boot
time.
Please fix this bug; as I said it worked before.
