I hadn't rebooted in a long time, but when I did it last night akonadi
ran my system out of memory very rapidly ( within a minute or two) made
the system un responsive. I decided to let it go over night and see if
all it really needed was to have enough time to finish so I turned the
monitor off a
YES! That worked. I installed the cvsd package from oneiric, re-ran
cvsd-buildroot and that worked. Whatever was changed / fixed in that
version should be back-ported to natty...

That new kernel works for TvTime. I hope that goes into the main
repository...

No, this is working now. I removed those keys from my xmodmap and
rebooted and then they worked!

Sorry for the poor explanation... Yes, the fan still spins all the
time, but it's slower and quiet now (at normal temperatures). I have to
put my ear next to the machine to notice it now, so although it's still
happening it doesn't really bother me anymore. I haven't tested it
under
Well, I've updated my 1420's bios from A00 to A09 and the fan is quiet
now, so that does indeed seem to fix the problem. It still runs all the
time so there may still be something wrong, or that may be how it's
supposed to work with the newer bios... I'm not really sure.

I'm having some trouble with the media keys on my Dell Inspiron 1420
laptop and I'm running the 64 bit version of Kubuntu Intrepid.
1) The volume keys seem to work to raise or lower the volume and display
the OSD, but the volume numbers don't change. So pressing "Volume Up"
My "crash" happened when I was shutting down and it notified me about it
on the next boot.
