Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: kubuntu-desktop
Using an up-to-date Kubuntu Jaunty 9.04 beta.
This is not really an independent bug, but more like a meta-bug that
covers several smaller bugs. Every single of the bugs in the various

It is true that knetworkmanager shouldn't start automatically anymore if
the system was upgraded to Jaunty, where the plasmoid is the default.
However, I think it should still be possible for a user to return to use

Wow, curiously, it does.
Note, that also on the KDE desktop, I have used the GNOME "nm-applet", but it

Public bug reported:
Using up-to-date jaunty kubuntu, but using the gnome nm-applet.
I have set up an OpenVPN connection via

Now I change "Advanced -> Security -> HMAC Autherntication setting" to

Same here. Unfortunately, nm-applet doesn't work in my case either (the applet
forgets the HMAC setting), nor does kvpnc in the version provided by ubuntu
(alos forgets some settings).
The only way I got the VPN connection running is to compile my own up-to-date
kvpnc, which solved the problem.
I want to reopen the bug, as the fix did only solve the issue that the
"Ok" button did not work, but online synchronization is still not
working. I have filed a corresponding KDE bug report
(https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=189016) on this.
** Bug watch added: KDE Bug Tracking System #189016
I managed to compile and install the fixed version. Now I can click OK
all right. Unfortunately, still nothing happens - no syncing is
happening...
