This bug affects me as well. I stumled over it while trying to upload pictures to a web site that uses Flash for uploading multiple images. The file selection dialogue always disappeared when it tried to display image thumbnails. Starting opera with "GDK_PIXBUF_MODULE_FILE=/usr/lib32 /gdk-pixbuf-2.0/2.10.0/loaders.cache" set resolves the issue.
