Same problem when MP3's are ripped with Sound Juicer. VLC shows correct
track length, but Rhythmbox does not.

I believe that I did manage to get this fixed in Jaunty. Unfortunately,
I don't remember what I did. In any case, I upgraded to Karmic Koala in
early November, and audio has not been a problem at all for Karmic. I
have, however, noticed performance problems in video playback, but

Gutsy. I never tried Hardy. I know at least one of the files I'm
having a problem with in Jaunty I had around in Gutsy and did not notice
any problem until using the new machine that is running Jaunty. In case

I just want to confirm that I too have the same problem with some, but
not all, AVI files. I haven't noticed any problems with MP3 files. I
thought that this might have been a problem with my audio device
drivers, but "vlc" works fine, just as Najmudin reported. This could be
related to bug #100
I tried this on the live CD last night, and it made a big difference!
First I tried the live CD without making any modifications, and I
suffered from an immediate crash when I tried selecting the AntInspect
screen saver.
Then I tried the live CD again, but immediately adding Option "BusType"

I'm experiencing the same problem after upgrading from Feisty (7.04) to
Gutsy (7.10). Just running a GL Screensaver like AntInspect will
immediately lock-up the system. This happened even after doing a clean
install of Gutsy. I've since replaced Gutsy with Feisty and I'm back to
smooth operation
