Good thing I quit Ubuntu after logging this bug. Only took 5 years in
the backlog and then it's "stale". Thank you for giving me the nudge I
needed to try other distros 5 years ago so that I no longer have to deal
with this.

terminal does not work. The update manager provides no option to
continue or cancel. The only way to stop it is to do a "sudo kill"

For me this problems happens on a fresh install on two different
machines (one Acer Aspire laptop, one AMD 64 3000+ desktop) with no
changes to any settings. My steps to reproduce it are: 1. Install

default configuration is to notify the user of updates whenever they are
available. It does not do that.

Grub2 detects 2 windows partitions for me, "Windows Vista" and "Windows
Vista Recovery". The problem is that it got them the wrong way around!
This has extremely nasty consequences as the Recovery automatically
deletes all partitions that it does no
