I have had the same problem since 10.04. On MSI EX600 running GeForce 8400M G driver version 260.19.21. The kernel is 2.6.35-24. Before upgrading to 10.04 gdm worked perfectly but since then I get to the shell 50% of the time. So Ubuntu 10.10 has not fixed this problem as of today. Running on batte
