Exactly the same for me. it worked fine in 7.10.
I have a Compaq Presario V6000. I think I have a Realteck sound card,

Compaq Pressario V6500

Hi. All worked fine in 7.10, but since I've upgraded, the 'mute' and
'voume up and down' slider does not affect the sound. It's a touch
sensitive slider built into the top of the keyboard.
The output is fine becasure the sound applet works and I have to use
that

whatsoever. Not even in the headphone socket (as some people are reporting)
Hello. I am also new to linux and Ubuntu. I have the same problem with
no sounds output in Ubuntu. It's a new laptopna nd teh sound definitely
works (in teh Windows Boot). It has not worked in either teh Live CD,
the 2.6.22.12 install or teh partial upgrade to 2.6.22.14. I have done
