Just tried 2.6.29.5 and .6 kernels, both work fine for me, however, not
the default 2.6.28 kernel... So I can also confirm what juhuu said, the
2.6.29 fix the problem.
Maybe someone else can try my test-script and report his/her findings to
help track down this issue.

format will not be correct. And I agree that this problem should be
fixed instead of implementing the workaround.
But since this bug has been pending for more than a year w/o a fix, my
suggestion is that the workaround should be
For me, "LC_ALL=C scribus" also fixes the problem, but does not affect
the program's GUI-Language (German in my case).
I suggest that the Ubuntu package maintainers fix the K-Menu / Gnome-
Menu entries for Scribus to e.g. "LC_ALL=C scribus-ng %f". This way, the
