Installed vmplayer again, from synaptic, after an upgrade to kernel
2.6.15-28along with required kernel modules pkgs...running
from user it produces this error:

same problem here, without any errors at all however. Vmplayer broke a
couple of days ago and wouldnt run until i followed the notes on
earlier Bug #47792 report... Note that the initial install of vmplayer
ran fine, but broke a few days ago after an update. (libpng update
perhaps? using adept u
My fault, the bug we backtraced and this report were the same issue,
probably a few days apartor after changes and reinstalling TB.
I'll get used to using Launchpad one of these days :P

Suddenly, for no apparent reason (no updates at the time) Thunderbird
crashes after the gui appears momentarily. Second crash in almost as
many days, ive reinstalled and added all mozilla thunderbird pkgs. Its
running on kubuntu dapper up to date as of 9/30 . Heres the cli
Its been a week of thunderbird headaches including a dapper reinstall
for other reasons. The vanishing TB was resolved in the next batch of
updates within hours. Now, no updates and TB just opens crashes and cli
gives a mess of segfaults. Guessing KDE and TB are not getting along?
