Seems like a python error. Would you check so
/usr/share/pyshared/CommandNotFound exists?
You can also try reinstalling command-not-found.

Clearly the file's owner was root and a normal user can't delete files
that belong to the root account. A sudo should suffice in most cases.

Your patch seems to have fixed it. Guess it just was a small coding
error (you should always check for NULL pointers).
This could probably be closed now.

I do use Compiz, however I have not turned it off since I installed it.
I first noticed the crash when I was going to enter a directory and

I was able to get a full backtrace too, it's attached.

I had the same problem, but it was quite an easy fix really.
Just download the 32-bit libasound2-plugins deb from the ubuntu package
repository (for Hardy: http://packages.ubuntu.com/hardy/libasound2-plugins).
Extract the contents to your home directory, and then extract data.tar.gz.

Did you read my post? I'm not able to do that since gdb exists when I use

I was however able to get some information by attaching a gdb process to the
hung application, but of course that information isn't usable since it was
generated after the hung occurred.

Sadly I'm not able to do a backtrace since gdb doesn't catch the hang.
Is it possible to pause the running application and return to gdb without
closing either gdb or nautilus? I read somewhere that Ctrl+C would pause it,
but that only exits from gdb (and afaik Ctrl+C is a global command for qui
What I meant to say was; nautilus hangs so I have to force close it.
Therefore apport doesn't generate a crash report, since it technically
is no "crash".

I have the same problem on Ubuntu 8.04 (alpha).
Single files work fine to delete, but not directories that are not empty.
I don't think I've seen this problem in earlier versions of Ubuntu (7.10 for
example), but I could be wrong.
