As expected, gxine doesn't help. Is there anything special about gxine?
I've been running fine with above mentioned fix (option to snd_hda_intel
module), only problem is that plugging in a headphone doesn't turn off
the loudspeaker (and the volume can't be set independently). I'd be nice

I can confirm the problem for an Aspire One A150L. But it's probably a
duplicate of Bug 200210, not a problem specific to the Aspire One.
Fix: Add "options snd_hda_intel model=acer" to /etc/modprobe.d/options and
reboot. Sound should then work after suspend/hibernate.
