This bug is gone in Intrepid. I am running with version 177 of the
nvidia driver and my compiz-real process rarely gets about 100MB. It
used to take about 3 hours to get to 400MB. No more lock-ups...I am
completely thrilled. I have a GE Force Go 7400.

problem is gone. The huge memory leak I was seeing in compiz-real is

perfect, but is 80% better...still a great improvement. I get a decent
improvement if I set the transparency to 99% even.

I think its a good idea to drop this unless this bug is fixed. I just
tried it and it cleans nothing (that I could see) except packages
installed from .deb files without the repository. It just deleted
skype, picasa, crossover, phun, and google desktop from my machine --
losing all the settings

I can confirm this as well. And it doesn't just "forget" the setting it
does nothing with it. If echo is uncheck then the /etc/ppp/options file
(to me) should be updated to set lcp-echo-failure and interval to zero
(see bug #268667), but it does not. Seems to have no affect actually.

that, with my service, I do not get responses back from echo commands.
Therefore commenting out either the lcp-echo-failure (or setting it to

I am on Hardy proposed...and no longer get this issue. I should also
add that part of my problem was due to a bug in VMWare where using
VMWare disabled Alt/Ctrl and other keys sometimes.
Running the command "setxkbmap" fixed it.

(possibly) others stop working outside the VM -- but do work inside the

My right justified panel applets are always in the wrong place whenever
I reboot with a different screen resolution. Was happening with Gutsy,

I can confirm this behavior on Gutsy when conky uses "own_window_type
override".
The window looks fine until after a reboot at which time the conky
window is above all others. If you kill conky and restart it behaves
properly.
I wrote a script to start conky after a 10 second delay and it had no
