It seems locking the screen and unlocking again - forcing an update in the
Eclipse UI - is enough to trigger the bug after a while.
I have the feeling it takes 2-3 hours until the crash occours.

I was looking forward to Intrepid, but I guess I have to wait for the
update, because of this bug - I only have a bluetooth keyboard (Logitech
diNovo Edge) with a USB-dongle. However this may still work (will try
the LiveCD), as it is normally seen as a normal keyboard+mouse by the OS

Thanks for the work to all involved! I think we affected users should nicely
inform the vendors about this issue, maybe they can provide firmware updates
or at least fix this in newer models.

This happens also with EPSON Perfection 2480 Photo, so not only Canon is
affected.

I successfully installed Ubuntu 7.0.4 on my trusty old Powerbook G4 Titanium
(500MHz, 1GB RAM).
However when searching for new packages to install, such as kubuntu-desktop, I
did not find them.

I got it to work on my Powerbook G4 Titanium with an ATI Mobility M3 AGP2x,
where I encountered similar issues:
* Ubuntu 7.0.4b would start, bring up the splash screen and finally show a
blank screen (the login sound worked though;)
This fixed the issue:

this is the first time I got this crash, using a fresh Feisty x86 Beta for ~2
weeks now.
Also Amarok crashed on login.
Maybe on a related note, gs-eps tends to crash when used for producing some

I got a similar error on Edgy Etch and also on a freshly installed Feisty beta
(x86).
After installing legacy-drivers, X works fine as long as you do not install any
kernel-updates (that adept_updater proposes). Even after updating the
nvidia-legacy packages, X won't start and first complained a
