On an odd side note, Google Chrome fails via installing via terminal by
adding the google repository to /etc/apt/sources.list.d. You can get
the repository key ok and install it via wget -q -O - https://dl-
ssl.google.com/linux/linux_signing_key.pub | sudo apt-key add -, but
http://dl.google.com/l

Agreed with the gksudo issue upon giving it a night sleep. Again, it
can be accessed via terminal>sudo unetbootin>password at terminal>starts
as intended as temp. work-around.

In the "blank screen" setting in screen saver. It was set to blank
after 2 min. Put display to sleep when computer is inactive for 3 min.
Switch off display in 4 min. Result: screen went blank but did not go
into sleep and display did not turn off.
In the "random screen saver" setting in screen
I am working on running various tests with the screen saver at different
time intervals and settings. Will post results at conclusion.

I went ahead and tried the Live CD again using "live video=ofonly"
option. Result: Boots to desktop. The install kubuntu 9.10 starts
again but stops after pressing forward (this is at the welcome screen
and choose language option). One other thought, it did get the time
from the network server,

I am attempting to clean install Kubuntu 9.10 via Live CD on a 1.67 Ghz
Mac PowerBook (G4). In the first part of the install, in the select
language screen, after choosing a language (any language) and clicking
forward(next), the installer stops
SonicBOOM: Interesting work-around, had not thought of that. Through
several trials with the beta, the slowness only affected wireless and
not the hard wired (eth0), but later that was too. I had to return to
Jaunty post haste.
