Hi Omar, I'm sorry for the confusion, thanks for clarifying.
Is it an option to install unity 6.8.0 in Quantal? I can compile/built
the packages without any problem.

Hi Brandon, thanks for you help. I was using Omar's ppa and it didn't
fix the bug.
Anyways, that ppa is now uninstalable for unmet compiz dependencies.

More data:
- Tried kernels 2.6.24 (didn't boot on this hardware) and jaunty's 2.6.28-4.
The bug persists.
- Disconnecting the card reader had no effect whatsoever.
I'm puzzled by this bug. Should I go to kernel bugzilla? Any pointers on
how to debug USB devices?

Logitech Trackball Mouse
Using 2.6.27-11 makes no difference.
However, if I plug an USB audio Headset, mouse behavior worsens a lot.
May this bug be related to the number of usb devices on the system?
For reference, the card reader on my system enables the following
devices:
77] sd 8:0:0:0: [sdc] Attached SCSI removable
I finally figured out how the input hotplug stuff works.
So I disabled it ("AutoAddDevices" "false") and tried the old mouse
driver. No difference.
So I'm pretty sure this is not a bug in evdev or mouse, as both drivers
display the bug.
So everything points now to the kernel. I'll try an older k
After some uptime I got the following in dmesg:

About one for 1 hour uptime
I'll try today the following workaround: Disable X/hal auto-config and
manually configure the mouse.

I happen to get this bug
I'm puzzled as to why people seem to think this bug is fixed with the previous
patch.
It seems the issue is the button_release event (of the last tab closing)
is called with no cur_tab, and then GTK+ crashes.
