I can confirm this behaviour on a Samsung NC10.
Deleting ~/.config/gnome-session/saved-session has an effect, the same
flashing background occurs but the Ubuntu log in sound plays before
entering the cycle.
Running "mutter --replace", all is well but if I then run unity, or
issue "Running mutter
Further to my last comment, I'm not certain that the crash and messages
are related. The messages appear several times without a machine crash
so perhaps it's a false association.

I've having this problem on a Toshiba A80-132 (Equium) laptop.
Occassional crashes that require hard-reboot. sometimes I need to remove
the battery. Although oddly, often I can ssh in from another machine and
reboot.
These crashes started after a clean install of 9.10. No problems in
9.04.

Actually we do have UNR documentation (Bug #340246), I've been working
on it for a couple of weeks but the branch is on my account until I've
found a way to integrate it with the current ubuntu-doc package.
As the docs are at a very early stage and we use description rather than
images, this is ea
String freeze is tomorrow, I'm more than happy to use a better solution
than mine (I especially don't like the need to manually install a
package). I'm also happy to ask for string freeze exception if someone

You have done the same thing yourself - you said "google for it" instead
of "used an Internet search engine". That's the point, language changes
- nouns often become verbs if their meaning is widely enough understood
and there's no well known alternative.

This was addressed a while ago and isn't in the current trunk - the
phrase now reads:
"Should an application crash in Ubuntu it will not lock up the desktop,
